Structured template for MRI examination of the lumbar spine including multiplanar imaging without and with gadolinium contrast

Last updated:

Title

MRI of the Lumbar Spine Without and With Intravenous Contrast

Clinical History

Patient-specific — populated from user input at report time. Shows "None" if not provided.

Comparison

No prior studies available for comparison.

Technique

Multi-planar MRI of the lumbar spine was performed utilizing axial T1, axial T2, sagittal T1, sagittal T2, and sagittal STIR images without contrast. Following administration of gadolinium, axial and sagittal T1-weighted images were obtained.

Findings

Overview of lumbar spine alignment, vertebral body signal, and spinal canal patency.
Lumbar Lordosis and Vertebral Alignment: There is preservation of normal lumbar lordosis. The lumbar vertebral heights and alignment are maintained.
Bone Marrow Signal: There is normal bone marrow signal on long and short TR pulse sequences. No expansile or destructive osseous lesion is seen.
Intervertebral Discs: The disc spaces appear relatively well preserved in height and T2 signal intensity. No focal disc herniation is identified.
Spinal Canal: No focal spinal canal stenosis is identified.
Neural Foramina: No neural foraminal stenosis is identified.
Conus Medullaris and Spinal Cord: The conus medullaris is located at L1-L2 level and is normal in size and signal. The spinal cord demonstrates normal signal intensity without evidence of myelopathy.
Cauda Equina: The cauda equina demonstrates a normal configuration.
Epidural Space: No epidural mass or collection is seen.
L1-L2 Level: At the L1-L2 level, there is no posterior disc bulge, significant spinal canal stenosis, or neural foraminal narrowing.
L2-L3 Level: At the L2-L3 level, the disc and spinal canal appear normal without stenosis or neural foraminal narrowing.
L3-L4 Level: At the L3-L4 level, the disc and spinal canal appear normal without stenosis or neural foraminal narrowing.
L4-L5 Level: At the L4-L5 level, the disc and spinal canal appear normal without stenosis or neural foraminal narrowing.
L5-S1 Level: At the L5-S1 level, the disc and spinal canal appear normal without stenosis or neural foraminal narrowing.

Impression

Unremarkable lumbar spine MRI.
