CT Neck with IV Contrast

CTHead & Neckctneckcontrastsoft tissue

Structured template for CT imaging of the neck with intravenous contrast, including soft tissue and skeletal evaluation from skull base to thoracic inlet.

Last updated:

Title

CT of the Soft Tissues of the Neck with Intravenous Contrast

Clinical History

Patient-specific — populated from user input at report time. Shows "None" if not provided.

Comparison

No prior studies available for comparison.

Technique

Contiguous 2 x 1 mm axial images were obtained from the skull base to the thoracic inlet following the administration of intravenous contrast. Images were reviewed in soft tissue and bone windows. Sagittal and coronal reformatted images were generated.

Findings

Systematic evaluation of the neck demonstrates normal soft tissue and skeletal structures without evidence of mass, collection, or pathologic lymphadenopathy.
Intracranial and Orbital Soft Tissues: The visualized intracranial and orbital soft tissues are normal.
Skull Base: No abnormality of the skull base is identified.
Middle Ear and Mastoid Air Cells: The middle ear and mastoid air cells are well developed and normally aerated.
Paranasal Sinuses: The paranasal sinuses are well developed and aerated.
Nasopharynx: The nasopharynx appears normal.
Parapharyngeal Space: The parapharyngeal space appears normal.
Masticator Space: The masticator space appears normal.
Oropharynx and Base of Tongue: The oropharynx and base of tongue are grossly normal.
Floor of Mouth: Floor of mouth structures appear normal.
Hypopharynx: The hypopharynx appears normal.
Epiglottis and Aryepiglottic Folds: The epiglottis and aryepiglottic folds appear unremarkable.
Piriform Sinuses: The piriform sinuses appear unremarkable.
Vocal Cords: The true vocal cords appear smooth and symmetric.
Airway Patency: The airway appears patent throughout the neck.
Parotid Glands: The parotid glands appear normal.
Submandibular Glands: The submandibular glands appear normal.
Thyroid Gland: The thyroid gland appears normal.
Carotid Spaces: No abnormalities of the carotid spaces are seen.
Cervical Lymph Nodes: No pathologically enlarged or necrotic lymph nodes are seen.
Soft Tissue Collections: No cervical mass or collection is seen.
Skeletal Structures: There is no evidence of fracture and no lytic or blastic lesions are seen within the visualized skeletal structures.
Superior Mediastinum and Lung Apices: Evaluation of the thorax reveals no abnormal superior mediastinal soft tissue or adenopathy. The visualized lung apices are clear.
Vascular Structures: There is normal flow of contrast through the great vessels in the chest and the major vasculature of the neck, without evidence of focal or segmental stenosis or dilatation.

Impression

No abnormal neck mass, collection, pathologically enlarged or necrotic lymph nodes noted.
